Borea

Borea is an enormous supercontinent that makes up a substantial portion of the northern hemisphere. Bigger than Eurasia, it houses a staggering diversity of biomes, environments and species, from the lush, humid jungles at its south to the winter wonderlands of the far north. In between are broad, open landscapes in the form of steppe, savannah, shrublands and deserts. Not only is it the biggest continent, but the biggest things on the planet can be found here as well. It has the biggest inland bodies of water, the biggest deserts, the biggest forests, the biggest land animals. It is also the home to one of the biggest mountains in the known galaxy; Cronus, a dormant shield volcano, is about as tall as Olympus Mons, but is many times wider, constituting an area of land comparable in size to Saudi Arabia.

Similar to Eurasia, Borea is composed of two smaller continental units, Macroborea and Microborea. The two units meet together at the north pole, forming a spectacular polar mountain range known as the Everwinter Barrier. Borea is often considered to be the center of anthropogenic activity on Athyrmagaia. The planet's most prevalent sophonts, the Astutocentaurus, can all trace their evolutionary ancestry to this continent, and there are at least six known species of this genus living on this continent alone. It is also on this continent that they are the most well-established societally, with species such as the Fauns (Astutocentaurus cosmopolitans), Mer (Thalassocentaurus sirenius) and Satyrs (Astutocentaurus gnathocornis) in particular having managed to achieve a level of globality akin to that of medieval-era Eurasia.

The Takara Plains

A long band of savannah and steppe ecosystems that stretches all the way from the west coast of Borea to the east, forming a geographical border between the drier subtropical regions of the south and the Borean Wood of the north. It also contains the Takara River, and is the homeland of the diminutive Shovelfolk, the Fauns, and the enormous Borean Oliphaunts.
